Creped Pressboard

Our Creped Pressboard is an insulation paper with a wrinkled surface. It is also called crepe insulation board. Ordinary insulation paper is flat. Our Creped Pressboard has many small wrinkles on the surface. These wrinkles allow the paper to stretch. The stretch rate can reach 20% to 30%. Why is stretching needed? When wrapping transformer coils, there are curved areas between the wire and the insulation. Flat paper does not wrap well. It creates wrinkles or gaps. Our Creped Pressboard can stretch. It follows the shape of the wire. The wrap is smooth and tight. Fewer gaps mean less partial discharge. A large power transformer company came to us. Their coils are oval-shaped. When they used flat paper, the corners always wrinkled. Wrinkles caused uneven insulation thickness. We recommended our Creped Pressboard. They tried one roll. The crepe paper easily wrapped around the oval shape. No wrinkles. No gaps. Now they use our Creped Pressboard for all their special-shaped coils. They buy 1000 kg per month.

We make our Creped Pressboard on special equipment. The paper passes through a heated embossing roller. The roller has a pattern on its surface. This creates even wrinkles. The wrinkle depth is consistent. We did a comparison. Our Creped Pressboard has a stretch rate of 25%. The industry average is only 15%. The higher the stretch rate, the more conformable the wrap. The breakdown voltage of our Creped Pressboard is above 6 kV. Tensile strength is 4 kN/m in the machine direction. In the cross direction, it is 2 kN/m. The cross direction is lower. But because of the wrinkles, it actually bends more easily in that direction. That is a good thing.
