Unlike finished DMD insulation paper, the resin in prepreg remains in a semi-cured state: non-tacky at room temperature for easy cutting, melting and flowing when heated above 150℃, and fully cured upon cooling to firmly bond adjacent materials together.

DMD prepreg for electrical motor insulation is a semi-cured insulation material manufactured by evenly coating B-stage epoxy resin onto DMD insulation paper substrates. Unlike finished DMD insulation paper, the resin in prepreg remains in a semi-cured state: non-tacky at room temperature for easy cutting, melting and flowing when heated above 150℃, and fully cured upon cooling to firmly bond adjacent materials together. This characteristic makes it ideal for thermal bonding insulation structures including bonding between copper foil and insulation layers of dry-type transformers, fixing motor pole insulation and interlayer bonding of current transformers.

Our DMD prepreg formula is independently developed by technical engineers with over 20 years of industry experience, with resin coating weight controlled within ±5 grams per square meter – far tighter than the ±20 grams tolerance achieved by many small manufacturers. More uniform coating delivers stable bonding strength after curing, eliminating risks of local poor adhesion. Actual test data shows that after 30 minutes of hot pressing at 150℃, the bonding strength of our DMD prepreg reaches 3.5MPa, 40% higher than the industry standard of 2.5MPa, completely eliminating risks of delamination and debonding. A dry-type transformer manufacturer previously coated resin in-house, suffering uneven coating and high labor costs. After switching to our prepreg, they simply place it between copper foil and insulation paper for hot pressing, now consuming a stable 2,000 kg monthly.

Substrate thickness ranges from 0.08mm to 0.45mm, and resin coating weight can be adjusted per your bonding strength requirements – thicker coatings for enhanced adhesion or thinner coatings for miniaturization. Width ranges from narrow strips to 1600mm full width. Flexible supply formats include rolls, sheets and custom-stamped special-shaped parts; we open molds for stamping upon receipt of your drawings. OEM labeling is fully supported with packaging and label content customized to your demands. The minimum order quantity is 500 kg, and free small samples are available for testing.

 

Quality Control

 

Prepreg production imposes strict requirements on production environments and process control. We maintain dedicated constant temperature and constant humidity production areas to stabilize resin coating conditions. During production, coating thickness and gel time are sampled hourly for consistent resin curing speed. Finished products undergo bonding strength and breakdown voltage tests before delivery, with unqualified batches rejected outright. Our testing laboratory is equipped with tensile strength testers, breakdown voltage testers and electrothermal blast drying ovens, with all data filed for traceability. The company holds ISO9001 certification, and quality control processes strictly comply with national standards.

 

Packaging & Transportation

 

DMD prepreg requires refrigerated storage, so special attention is paid to transport packaging. The inner layer is vacuum-sealed with moisture-proof aluminum foil bags, and the outer layer uses insulation boxes with ice packs to maintain stable temperatures during transit, delivering an insulation duration of up to 72 hours under normal transport conditions. Clear "Refrigerated Goods" labels and storage temperature prompts are affixed to each carton. Upon arrival, goods must be immediately stored in cold warehouses below 5℃ with a shelf life of 3 months. For customers with large and long-term consumption, we can produce and ship batches separately to ensure you always receive freshly manufactured products. Trade terms EXW and FOB are supported with convenient shipment from Wenzhou Port.
